Venus Viva is a nonsurgical procedure that resurfaces the skin. It can improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, deep wrinkles, other types of skin damage and pigmentation issues. The staff at Fechner MD Medical Spa use the Venus Viva to help their patients achieve smoother, evenly-toned, fresh, and more youthful skin.

Under the guidance of Dr. Fechner, patients come from Boston and from across the globe to take advantage of the exceptional skills, credentials, knowledge, and personalized care in anti-aging offered at our Medical Spa.

How is Venus Viva different from laser treatments and dermabrasion?

One of the more significant differences is that Venus Viva is appropriate for darker skin tones; the others are appropriate only for fair skin. The other important advantages are less pain and shorter downtime than laser treatments and chemical peels, while producing, essentially, the same results.

What is the Venus Viva procedure?

The Venus Viva device has tiny pins that radiate radio frequency waves. These pins, rather than lasers, heat up the deep dermal tissue, just below the epidermis (the top layer of skin). The body naturally heals the micro-wounds produced by this process, producing new collagen and elastin that can give the face a smoother, firmer appearance. A typical session lasts just 15 – 30 minutes and, while it can be slightly uncomfortable, is not painful. During the treatment, you will feel tiny pins on your face and a little zap. Afterward, your skin will be pink and will feel as if you have gotten a sunburn. For best results, treatments should be done 2-4 weeks apart.

This treatment pairs well with Intense Pulsed Light/Broad Band Light, microneedling/collagen induction therapy, and chemical peels.

How long is the recovery time?

It will take about 24 hours for the redness to fade, and nothing—not even warm water—should be applied to your face during that time. After 24 hours, you can apply makeup but, to allow the skin to heal gently and limit the amount of

extra stimulation and blood flow to the treatment area, we recommend no hot baths, strenuous exercise or massage. We also recommend using a 30 SPF sun screen (after the first 24 hours) and avoid tanning.
